Air conditioning in East Farleigh
Air conditioning in East Farleigh
Apex fits and services air conditioning in East Farleigh and the Medway valley villages around it, about 18 miles from our Dartford base. From riverside cottages to newer family houses, we choose a wall unit that suits the room, place the outdoor unit with care and give you a fixed written quote.

Wall units that suit a cottage room
Older cottages near the river and the church often have low ceilings, small windows and thick walls. A slim wall-mounted unit set high on an inside wall usually works well, and design ranges with a flatter front, such as Mitsubishi Electric's Zen, look less like office kit in a period room.
Just down the valley in Maidstone we fitted two Zen wall units for one home, listed below. Where a room has exposed beams, we mount the indoor unit on a plain wall below them rather than cutting into old timber.
Thick walls make the pipe hole the slowest part of the day. We core-drill it once, angled so the condensate drains away, and plan the route so the trunking outside stays short and neat. Our air conditioning installation page shows the units we fit.
Gardens near the Medway: keeping the outdoor unit dry
Homes with gardens running down towards the river need a little more thought about where the outdoor unit stands. Low ground can hold water after heavy rain, so we fit the unit on a wall bracket or a raised stand rather than a pad at ground level. That also keeps leaves and grass cuttings out of the coil.
In heating mode the outdoor unit sheds water as it defrosts, and a raised position gives that water somewhere to drain instead of pooling round the base. If the only free wall faces a neighbour's window, a ground stand further down the garden with the pipes run in a buried duct is another option, as long as the noise check still passes.
Send a photo of the room and the outside wall in East Farleigh, and Olly will say what fits.

Older buildings near the bridge and church
The bridge over the Medway is Grade I listed and St Mary's Church is listed too, and some older buildings around them may be listed or inside a conservation area. If your cottage is one of them, the outdoor unit needs listed building consent and a position out of public view, usually behind the house.
We check your address with Maidstone Borough Council's records before we quote. For an ordinary house, a heat-and-cool system is usually permitted development, as our guide to planning and air con explains.

Barming, Teston, Coxheath and the Farleighs
We cover the villages on both sides of the valley: West Farleigh and Teston upstream, Barming across the river, and Loose and Coxheath to the south. Yalding is within reach too.
Away from the river, many homes here are family houses with good-sized gardens, which usually makes for a simple install. If you already have a system, we service most makes, not only the ones we fit.

Questions
Air conditioning in East Farleigh: questions
Can I have air conditioning in an old cottage near the river?
Usually, yes. A slim wall unit suits most cottage rooms, and the outdoor unit goes at the back or side of the house, raised clear of wet ground if the garden runs towards the Medway. If the cottage is listed, you need listed building consent first. We check both points at the survey and tell you before anything is booked.
Will a wall unit look out of place in a period room?
It does not have to. Design ranges such as Mitsubishi Electric's Zen and Daikin's Emura have flatter fronts and come in white, silver or black, and a floor unit under a window is another option. We place the indoor unit where it is least noticeable and keep the pipework inside walls or cupboards where the East Farleigh building allows.
How often should air conditioning be serviced?
Once a year suits most homes. A service cleans the filters and coils, checks the refrigerant pressures and the drain, and keeps a record for the warranty, since brands such as Daikin and Panasonic ask for annual maintenance. If your system heats your East Farleigh home through the winter, book the service before the cold weather arrives.
Do you cover Coxheath, Loose and Yalding?
Yes. We cover Coxheath, Loose, Yalding, Barming, Teston and West Farleigh as well as East Farleigh itself, and Maidstone too. The survey and quote work the same way in each: Olly visits, checks the walls, the outdoor position and the planning status, then sends a fixed written quote. Send a photo on WhatsApp first if you want a quick view.
