Air con installation for Dartford homes

Most Dartford homes are Victorian and Edwardian terraces near the town centre, or inter-war and post-war semis on the estates around it.

On these houses the outdoor unit usually goes on the back wall or on a small pad in the garden. The pipes then pass a short way through the wall to the indoor unit, which keeps the trunking short and the outside of the house tidy.

The rooms we are asked about most are back bedrooms that hold the heat at night, loft conversions under the roof, and home offices. For one Dartford home office we fitted a Panasonic split that cools the room in summer and heats it through the winter.

After a 3kW bedroom job in the town, the customer wrote: "Olly and Lee worked very tidily and were extremely careful about dust capture while drilling in the house."

The town also has a lot of newer flats. In a flat, the freeholder or management company normally has to agree before any outdoor unit goes up, and planning permission is often needed as well, so we sort out what is required before quoting. Our air conditioning installation page explains how we size and fit each system.

Our Dartford work reaches out to Wilmington, Stone, Greenhithe, Swanscombe, Sutton-at-Hone, Darenth and Bean. A customer in Swanscombe described the fitting as "very punctual and hard working and very tidy and polite".

Air con servicing, repairs and regas in Dartford

Being based in the town means servicing and repair visits in Dartford are short trips for us. A service cleans the filters, the indoor coil and the drain, checks the refrigerant pressures and tests the system in heating and cooling.

Most makers ask for a yearly service to keep the warranty valid, and you get a written record each time. See air con servicing for what a visit covers.

A lot of people in Dartford search for an air con regas. On a home or office system the refrigerant runs in a sealed circuit, so a low charge means there is a leak somewhere. We trace and fix the leak first, then pressure test, vacuum and recharge the system. Adding gas without a repair only buys a few weeks or months before it escapes again.

We work on fixed systems in buildings, not car air con. One Dartford customer whose system we fixed put it simply: "Extremely pleased. Very efficient." Common faults and error codes are on our air conditioning repairs page.

Olly can often tell from photos whether your Dartford room needs a single or multi split.

Air conditioning for Dartford shops, offices and warehouses

We fitted a Panasonic 10kW twin split and a 5kW single split in a new warehouse in Dartford, so the trading estates are familiar ground.

In a warehouse or industrial unit, the outdoor units usually sit on the rear wall or a flat roof. Indoor units are sized for the floor area, the roof height, and the heat given off by people, lighting and machines.

Shops and offices in the old town centre need more care. Much of the centre is a conservation area, so outdoor units belong in a rear yard or on a back roof, out of view of the High Street. Units for business premises usually need planning permission wherever they are, and we tell you at the survey if yours will.

Systems over 12kW also need a TM44 inspection by an energy assessor at least every five years, and our maintenance records are the paperwork the assessor asks for. More on commercial air conditioning for offices, salons, shops and restaurants.

How much does air conditioning cost in Dartford?

We do not publish prices, because every job is different. The cost depends on the size of each room, how far the pipes have to run, where the outdoor unit can go and whether the electrics need a new circuit. National sources give a useful guide.

Which? (July 2026) puts a heat-and-cool system for one room at about £1,900 fitted, and a multi-unit system for a three-bed semi at about £3,700. Selectra (October 2026) says prices in London and the south-east run 20 to 30% above national figures.

For a firm figure, WhatsApp a photo of the room and the outside wall. Olly then visits for a free survey: he measures up, works out the heat gain for each room, checks the noise level at your neighbour's nearest window, and looks at your consumer unit.

A fixed written quote follows. The air conditioning cost guide explains each price driver in more depth.

Olly surveys Dartford jobs himself and puts the price in writing.

Olly and his colleague have installed an air conditioner in my bedroom last month. They have been very polite and professional. Olly has answered all of my questions and provided multiple quotes. I was worried that the outside unit of the AC system would be loud, however it turned out to be surprisingly quiet. I'm very pleased with that. The AC system works well and cools the room very quickly, I have had no issues with it.

Couldn't have asked for better service. The install was difficult and challenging due to access issues in loft. Olly made it look easy and dealt with everything in a professional and reassuring way. He went above and beyond as other companies had told me it couldn't be done. First rate job and top bloke.

Questions

Air conditioning in Dartford: questions

Is there a local air conditioning company in Dartford?

Yes. Apex Air Conditioning Services is a Dartford limited company, formed in 2020 and F-gas certified with REFCOM (REF1017376). Olly Hughes surveys, quotes and fits jobs himself. We install, service and repair heat-and-cool air conditioning for homes and businesses in Dartford, Wilmington, Stone, Greenhithe, Sutton-at-Hone, Bean and the villages around the town.

How much does air con installation cost in Dartford?

It depends on the number of rooms, the unit sizes, the pipe run and the electrics. Published UK guides in 2026 put one room at roughly £1,500 to £3,000 fitted, with the south-east near the top of that range (Selectra). Apex does not work from a price list. Olly surveys your home free of charge and gives you a fixed written quote for the job.

Which air conditioning units do you fit in Dartford?

We fit Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Panasonic systems, and Airzone controls for room-by-room zoning. Most of our recent Dartford jobs use Panasonic, including Etherea wall units in graphite grey and a ducted system with Airzone in Darenth. We pick the model for the room: a quiet unit for a bedroom, a bigger one for an open-plan living area.

Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Dartford?

Usually not for a heat-and-cool unit on a house. Since 29 May 2025 it counts as permitted development if it meets the size and siting limits and passes the 37 dB(A) noise check at the neighbour's window. You usually do need permission in the town centre conservation area if the unit faces the road, and for flats, listed buildings and business premises.
