Air conditioning in Benenden
Air conditioning in Benenden for village houses and farmhouses
We design and fit air conditioning in Benenden, from ducted systems hidden in a loft to multi-splits serving several bedrooms. Every system we suggest heats as well as cools. The village is about 30 miles from our Dartford base, so Olly books a set time for your survey.

Ducted and multi-split air conditioning for Benenden houses
Both systems we have fitted in Benenden were whole-house or multi-room jobs. One house had a 7kW Daikin ducted system: the indoor unit sits out of sight and air reaches each room through grilles, all run from a Madoka wall controller.
The other took two Daikin multi systems serving four Daikin Stylish wall units, so four rooms share just two outdoor units.
Farmhouses on the lanes and the bigger homes round the edge of the village often have a loft or ceiling void with room for ducted air conditioning, which keeps the rooms free of visible units. Where there is no void, a multi-split lets several rooms share one outdoor unit instead of lining the back wall with them.
Siting outdoor units in the Benenden and Iden Green conservation areas
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council has conservation areas at both Benenden village and Iden Green, and large parts of the borough lie in the High Weald National Landscape.
Since May 2025, a heat-and-cool unit on a house is usually permitted development if it meets the size, siting and MCS 020(a) noise rules. Inside either conservation area, though, a unit on a wall or roof facing the road is more likely to need permission.
Rural plots work in your favour. Homes in the village and out towards East End, Dingleden and Standen Street usually have space at the back or side for the outdoor unit on a ground pad, well away from the road.
A listed cottage needs listed building consent first. Our guide to planning permission for air conditioning sets out the rules in full.
Photos of the room and where the outdoor unit could go are the quickest start.

Thick cottage walls, barns and long pipe runs
Older Benenden cottages often have thick walls, so the position of the pipe hole is decided at the survey, not on the day. Garden offices, converted barns and outbuildings are common on plots this size, and they can be heated and cooled too.
The catch is distance. A long pipe and power run from the house takes planning, and some outbuildings are better served by their own small outdoor unit beside them.

Servicing Daikin systems in Benenden, Cranbrook and Hawkhurst
Ducted and multi-split systems need a yearly service to keep filters, coils and drains clean, and manufacturers' extended warranties usually depend on it.
We service air conditioning across this corner of the Weald, including Iden Green, Cranbrook, Sissinghurst, Biddenden, Hawkhurst and Tenterden. If your system was fitted by another company, send a photo of the outdoor unit's label on WhatsApp and we will tell you what its service involves.

What our customers say
Word for word from Checkatrade and Google.
I cannot fault anything about the whole experience. Really clear survey and quite, discussed options, made great suggestions. The work was done to an amazing standard, better than I expected - a real perfectionist. And then everything was left absolutely spotless. Plus, Olly spent the time to explain how everything worked, maintenance, and how to get the best from the air conditioning. We are really happy with the whole job
Really pleased with the service provided, olly and his team done an amazing job fitting an air conditioning unit into my salon. It’s nice to know I can keep my clients cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Overall 10/10 service provided, will defiantly be recommending them and thinking about having another unit installed into my home.
First class service! Ollie is very knowledgeable, provided a thorough service and deep clean of all our units and fixed a leak.
Questions
Air conditioning in Benenden: questions
How much does air conditioning cost for a house in Benenden?
It depends on the system. A ducted system for a whole house costs more than a few wall units, and long pipe runs or outbuildings add work. We do not publish prices because no two Benenden houses are the same. Olly visits, measures the rooms and gives you a fixed written quote, and our cost guide shows typical published UK price ranges.
Do I need planning permission for air con in Iden Green?
Possibly. Iden Green has its own conservation area, separate from Benenden village. A heat-and-cool unit on a house is often permitted development, but one facing the road in a conservation area is more likely to need permission, and listed homes need listed building consent. We check your address and run the noise calculation before we quote.
Is ducted air conditioning suitable for an older Benenden home?
It can be, if there is a loft or ceiling void deep enough for the indoor unit and the ducts. Low-ceilinged cottages often lack that space, and a multi-split with neat wall or floor units fits better. We fitted a 7kW Daikin ducted system with a Madoka controller for one Benenden house, and we judge every home on site.
Do you cover Cranbrook, Sissinghurst and Biddenden?
Yes. Benenden is about 30 miles from our Dartford base, and we cover the villages around it, including Iden Green, Cranbrook, Sissinghurst, Biddenden, Hawkhurst and Tenterden. Because of the distance, we book a set time for your survey or service visit. Tell us your village and what you need, and we will arrange it.
