Lounge and bedroom air con for West Kingsdown houses
Many West Kingsdown homes are detached or semi-detached houses in cul-de-sacs, with a back garden that leaves plenty of room for the outdoor unit. A common setup is one unit in the lounge and one in the main bedroom, either as two single splits or as a multi-split with one outdoor unit.
The lounge unit warms the room on cold evenings, and the bedroom unit keeps summer nights cool. With Wi-Fi control you can switch the lounge on from your phone on the way home.
A customer in nearby Swanley had exactly that fitted. In their words: "Other than opening the door, putting the furniture back and paying him, I didn't have to do anything in the fitting of the aircon." See how we handle air conditioning installation from survey to handover.
Air conditioning for park homes
West Kingsdown has park home estates, and these need a closer look before we quote. Park home walls are lighter than brick, so the indoor unit bracket has to fix into the frame, and the outdoor unit usually stands on a ground pad rather than hanging on the wall.
We also check the electrical supply, which can be smaller on a park home, and the site owner's rules on outdoor units and alterations. The condensate drain needs a route too, to a nearby drain or soakaway, since there may be no gutter close by.
Once fitted, an air-to-air heat pump uses far less electricity than plug-in heaters for the same warmth, as well as cooling the home in summer. If it becomes your main heating, a yearly heat pump service keeps it running efficiently.

A review from West Kingsdown
Had been looking for years to install aircon and when I researched it, was overwhelmed by the sheer number of companies and units available. By pure coincidence we saw a recommendation on a local Facebook group for Olly and Apex. After my first call to him on 16th Feb, the job was finished on 9th March. Other than opening the door, putting the furniture back and paying him, I didn't have to do anything in the fitting of the aircon. I found him smart, punctual and he did an excellent job. Would have no hesitation in highly recommending him.

Garden offices and rural plots near Knatts Valley
Out towards Knatts Valley and East Hill, plots are bigger and some homes sit well back from the road. Longer pipe runs are fine within each maker's limits, with extra refrigerant added for the length. Knatts Valley is in the Kent Downs National Landscape, so an outdoor unit on a wall facing the road there usually needs permission.
The village is also in the green belt, which matters for new buildings but not for a unit on an existing house. Some rural homes on oil or LPG use an air-to-air system to burn less fuel in spring and autumn. A garden office or studio can have its own small system on a timer. Word for word from Checkatrade and Google.
I cannot fault anything about the whole experience. Really clear survey and quite, discussed options, made great suggestions. The work was done to an amazing standard, better than I expected - a real perfectionist. And then everything was left absolutely spotless. Plus, Olly spent the time to explain how everything worked, maintenance, and how to get the best from the air conditioning. We are really happy with the whole job
Couldn't have asked for better service. The install was difficult and challenging due to access issues in loft. Olly made it look easy and dealt with everything in a professional and reassuring way. He went above and beyond as other companies had told me it couldn't be done. First rate job and top bloke.
Questions
Air conditioning in West Kingsdown: questions
Can you fit air conditioning to a park home?
Usually, yes. We check the wall build so the indoor unit fixes into the frame, set the outdoor unit on a ground pad or stand, and make sure the electrical supply can take the load. The site owner's rules come first, so ask them early, or we can tell you what details they are likely to want. The finished system heats and cools the home.
Do you cover Knatts Valley and East Hill?
Yes. We cover West Kingsdown and the rural roads around it, including Knatts Valley, East Hill, Kingsdown, Fawkham, Farningham, Ash and Swanley. Bigger plots out there often mean a longer pipe run, which we plan at the free survey. Send a photo of the room, and of where you would like the outdoor unit, on WhatsApp first.
Can air conditioning heat a garden office in winter?
Yes. The home systems we install are air-to-air heat pumps, so the wall unit that cools the office in summer heats it in winter, even on frosty mornings. Makers rate their units to keep heating well below freezing outside. A timer or phone app lets you warm the office before you walk down the garden.
How long does a lounge and bedroom install take?
It depends on the pipe runs and the time of year. As a real example, one Swanley customer first called Olly on 16 February and had lounge and bedroom units finished on 9 March. National guides note that summer brings the longest waits for installers, so booking a survey in autumn or spring is usually easier (Selectra, 2026).
